This site is designed to assist you in obtaining permission numbers for School of Business Undergraduate courses.

For your request to be considered, please answer all questions with *.

Course eligibility is determined by the following:

  • All pre-requisites and/or co-requisites for the course must be satisfied. Please see the catalog for requisite information.
  • Many classes are open only to students in a particular major. Please check "reserved" vs. "unreserved" capacities.
  • Departments will give priority to their majors first. If you are unclear about the requirements for your major, please see the plans of study on our website.

It is important that you correctly identify yourself in order assist the review process and that you take any additional required steps as explained in the chart below. 

Please read the information below pertinent to the type of student you just identified.

Current Business Major, Storrs Campus

  • All 3000/4000 level School of Business classes require that a student be a business major during the term for which you are seeking a permission number and earned at least (some require more) 54 credits before the class begins.
Current Business Major, Regional Campus
  • All 3000/4000 level School of Business classes require that a student have completed all of the pre-requisites listed in the catalog and earned at least (some require more) 54 credits before the class begins.
Newly Admitted Storrs Business Major
  • All 3000/4000 level School of Business classes require that a student be a business major during the term for which you are seeking a permission number and earned at least (some require more) 54 credits before the class begins.
Newly Admitted Regional Business Major
  • All 3000/4000 level School of Business classes require that a student have completed all of the pre-requisites listed in the catalog and earned at least (some require more) 54 credits before the class begins.
International & Domestic Exchange Student
  • YOU MUST IMMEDIATELY EMAIL A PDF VERSION OF YOUR OFFICIAL ACADEMIC RECORD IN ENGLISH TO undergrad@business.uconn.edu. Failure to do so will result in the inability of your permission number request to be reviewed. Additional information like a syllabus of a particular course may be requested.
  • Students must have all the necessary pre-requisites for each requested course. Please consult our university catalog for a list of course pre-requisites, www.catalog.uconn.edu.
  • Exchange Students who are documented Business majors at their home institution can request the following class subjects at UConn: ACCT, BADM, FNCE, HSMG, MKTG, MGMT, and OPIM.
  • Exchange Students who ARE NOT business majors are their home institutions are limited to BADM courses designed for non-business majors here. Please consult the catalog for a complete list, as not all BADM courses are open to non-business majors.
  • After your request has been submitted, if approved the School of Business staff will email your permission number to the Advising Office.
Non-Business Major, Storrs Campus
  • You are not eligible to take any 3000/4000 level business courses with the exception of the BADM courses or minor designated for non-business majors. Please consult the course descriptions in the catalog for a list of approved courses.
  • You should have completed all pre-requisites listed for a particular course.
  • You will only receive a response from your request, if a permission number can be provided. Please make other arrangements while you are waiting to hear.
Non-Business Major, Regional Campus
  • All 3000/4000 level School of Business classes require that a student have completed all of the pre-requisites listed in the catalog and earned at least (some require more) 54 credits before the class begins.
  • Priority is given to business majors, and some courses are not open to enrollment by non-business majors.
Non-Degree Student
  • False or misleading statements about your academic record or filling out this form more than once for the same course may disqualify your request.
  • Please allow for at least 2 weeks for your request to be reviewed and processed.
  • Permission number requests for School of Business courses are typically managed through this form and not by emailing faculty or the Advising Office staff.
  • Due to the volume of requests, you should only expect to hear back if your request can be accommodated. If after 2 weeks the class is still listed as open in PeopleSoft, you may then contact the department that teaches the course to inquire about the status of your request. To ensure staff can respond in an appropriate time manner, all sections you would consider must be submitted in one request. Filling out this form multiple times for the same course does not enhance your chances of receiving a permission number.

Reason

The Student Administration system did not let me into this class because*:

Student Admin might not recognize completed requisites if they are approved substitutions (approved by the Assistant Dean) or transfer equivalents (Example: PeopleSoft will not recognize BADM 2710 as ACCT 2101)
